Day-31

We're
found, but the bikes are MIA...
We returned to the double-wide to find the owners the following
morning. For having total strangers break into there home
the previous night, they were incredibly understanding about it.
Our
next issue was to find out how to get to our bikes since we only had
a general idea of where they were. With the help of the local fire
prevention center and one of their GPS units, we were able to pinpoint
the bikes. To make sure we didn't miss them James, Michael and I hiked
through a long field of sage to look for them. After a few miles we
finally spotted a glimmer off in the distance which turned out to
be James helmet resting comfortably on his bike.
The
issue of course was still how to get the bikes to the road and
through the barbwire fences. The fact that we had a much
better idea of the lay of the land and that the sun wasn't setting
anytime soon made it a much simpler operation. Finally we made it
to the road and asphalt had never looked to good. We were all exhausted
from hiking in the sun in full motorcycle gear and ready to get back
to town to rest. On the way back we had to wait at a railroad cross
for the train to pass. While waiting for the gates to go up James
actually fell asleep on his motorcycle and fell on me knocking
me into a steel guard rail. My shoulder was a little banged up but
other than that no harm was done. We got back to town and took the
rest of the night to relax.
