Another day in Broken Arrow...
The
plan had been for Vance to ride with the guys today, however, due
to the late night bike maintenance everyone slept late. When
we finally woke up we realized Michael’s back tire was almost
totally bald - 15 days of agressive trail riding eats away at tires
quickly. So, while Mathew, James and Steven worked on wiring up one
of the bike’s with camera equipment, Michael, Chris and Vance
headed into town to pick up newly printed movie posters, lunch and
a new tire. When we returned we all realized that there was no way
we could leave and make our next destination in time so we opted to
stay at the Hunter’s house for one more night.
Because
we had some down time, Vance happily gave us the Grand Tour of Broken
Arrow and drove us by the high-school where the film documentary “The
Pride of Broken Arrow” about their marching band was
filmed. Vance’s older daughter is a member of the Broken Arrow
marching band and he has season tickets to the Friday night games.
F
riday
night high-school football is a very big deal there and the stadium
was huge. All James could say was “I can’t believe how
big that stadium is.” As our time with the Hunter family was
drawing to a close, Lori, Vance’s wife, prepared a most delicious
home cooked meal for us all. There were baked potatoes, an amazing
sautéed veggie mix, marinated Portobello mushrooms, french
bread, and salad. Of course, Vance was also impressive, cooking ten
steaks in his homemade grill that he built from an old oil pipe. The
dinner was superb and was a perfect end to our two day visit with
a terrific family. We are all very grateful to Vance and his
family for their selfless and immediate support during our
most challenging issue to date.
As
a small token of our sincere appreciation to Vance and his family
we had a photo we took of Vance on one of his motorcycles and had
it enlarged and printed locally. The two Beatty brothers then signed
the photo with appreciation, and the entire cast signed one of our
movie posters and also gave it as a token of our appreciation to Vance.
